Great attendance, with lots of different subjects covered in the conversations. Dave gave us a nice show on his laptop computer of photos he took at a recent robot contest in California. This seem to also be the evening of the Hackable toys!

Steve brought in a couple of toys, left and center photos. The
Left photo the toy only cost $3.00 from a thrift shop. It was a IR
remote controlled "Sumo" that has a very nice set of motors that go to
each to a set of wheels. The center photo the toy base in black is
designed to "fly" a toy around and "bank" the model airplane when it turned.
Throw away the model airplane and use the base. Its interesting that
Steve has found the same toy that Greg has just recently hacked for using
as a Critter Crunch robot. Right are some tiny RC and IR remote controlled
toys. Only about 2" long each! Dennis Clark brought the tank.
Galen brought the sub, which really works!

Dave brought a FPGA development board and programer. Both Galen
and Dave have a lot of experience on such technology and programing these
chips, and explained some about them to us. Center photo, Dennis
L. nearly has his Mini-Sumo ready to go. He's having some problems
with servo drift and getting the start button to work, but its getting
close. Right photo, Terry brought is cool O-Scope the try and figure
out what was dead on his Critter Crunch robot after being hit by an electric
discharge weapon! Looks like one of the sensors is completely out,
2 others may be fixable.
