November 2005

A good turnout at the meeting with a surprising number of new folks.  Everyone had a great time with many stimulating conversations.  Lots of exchanging of ideas and showing hardware.  Joe was able to test his SpyBot with cables and help from Dennis.  Terry gave away some nice stuff, some things still in unopened packages!  General hardware demos were given on robots detecting arena edges or finding and grabbing objects.  Early ideas and discussions on FRR doing an dedicated class or demo at next years Critter Crunch & science fiction convention.

Dennis showed his Object Grabber bot.  He's changed out the modified servos that were failing and put in some SolarBotics motors.  This has necessitated the replacement of treads with wheels.

Terry showed his new control panel for a Critter Crunch robot.  Right photo, Terry's Mini Sumo in progress.

Joe showed his Spy Bot.  During the meeting he got it to respond to commands via his laptop with help from Dennis.

Ed showed his 'Mars Rover'.  It takes a lot of stuff to run it!  It's temporally on an umbilical control due to persistent RF problems.

Greg actually allowed us to see the guts of the Evil Brass Wedge!

Dennis also had a Lego bot to show.
